The University of the Philippines Diliman Department of Mechanical Engineering (UPD DME) welcomed representatives of the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering (PRBME) on March 17, 2026, for an onsite inspection and monitoring visit to assess the Department’s compliance with applicable professional and regulatory standards.
The inspection was led by Hon. Manuel L. Paulino and Hon. Ramon F. Solis, members of the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The visit involved a review of the Department’s facilities, academic programs, and institutional practices relevant to mechanical engineering education.
The inspection forms part of the PRC’s regulatory responsibilities to monitor educational institutions and establishments under its jurisdiction. Under PRC Resolution No. 1471, Series of 2021, inspections assess compliance with applicable professional regulatory laws and policies. These activities help ensure that educational institutions maintain conditions consistent with the standards governing their respective professions.
Following the inspection, the Department was found compliant with the applicable professional standards and was informed that it would be issued a Certificate of Compliance. Under the PRC’s inspection and monitoring guidelines, such certification is issued to educational institutions found compliant with the relevant professional regulatory requirements.
The favorable inspection findings recognize the Department’s efforts to maintain appropriate facilities, academic practices, and institutional processes in support of mechanical engineering education. They also reflect the contributions of faculty members, administrative personnel, and students in maintaining the Department’s educational environment.
The Department expresses its appreciation to the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering for conducting the inspection and providing regulatory guidance. It also acknowledges the faculty members, staff, and other personnel who contributed to the preparation and coordination of the visit.
The UP Diliman Department of Mechanical Engineering remains committed to maintaining compliance with professional standards and pursuing continuous improvement in its academic programs, facilities, and institutional practices.
