Undergraduate Program

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) Program at the University of the Philippines Diliman is an undergraduate degree program designed to develop competent, innovative, and socially responsible mechanical engineers. Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most versatile engineering fields, dealing with the conception, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical and thermal systems that power industries and improve lives.

Graduates of the BSME Program are equipped with a strong foundation in mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering fundamentals, as well as specialized knowledge in areas of mechanical engineering such as thermofluids, machine design, control systems, and product development. The curriculum integrates hands-on learning within coursework, and culminates with industry exposure, and team-based research and design projects to ensure a well-rounded education.

Beyond technical skills, the BSME Program emphasizes ethical practice, leadership, sustainability, and lifelong learning—qualities that enable graduates to contribute meaningfully in mechanical engineering sectors such as manufacturing, energy, transportation, and academe. Whether pursuing careers in industry, government, or academe, graduates of our BSME Program are well-positioned to address real-world challenges and lead professionally both locally and globally.
