Energy and Thermal Systems

The Energy and Thermal Systems thrust is dedicated to developing sustainable and efficient solutions for energy generation, storage, and utilization. This research area encompasses applied heat transfer, thermal systems, and energy conversion. We focus on studying systems such as internal combustion engines, thermal power plants, refrigeration systems, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. We also emphasize the study of renewable energy technologies, especially solar, wind, and tidal, . For instance, our research and development may involve developing low-cost solar thermal systems for rural communities and improving the efficiency of residential and industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
