The Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of the Philippines Diliman is structured to support excellence in instruction, research, and service.   • Administrative Staff – Supports daily operations, documentation, and communication within the department.
  • Assistant Chair for Academic Affairs (ACAA) – Oversees curriculum development, course planning, academic policies, and faculty teaching assignments; handles student academic concerns.
  • Assistant Chair for Administration (ACA) – Manages operations, including finance, personnel, procurement, facilities, and shop supervision.
  • Assistant Shop Supervisor – Assists in shop operations, ensuring safety, maintenance, and support for instruction and research.
  • Building Administrator – Oversees maintenance, utilities, and the safe, functional use of department facilities.
  • Department Academic Personnel Committee (DAPC) – Reviews faculty recruitment, performance, and promotion, aligned with university policies.
  • Department Personnel Committee (DPC) – Oversees administrative staff recruitment, performance evaluation, and HR-related matters.
  • External Relations Committee – Manages industry, alumni, and institutional partnerships to support academic and research initiatives.
  • Facilities Management Committee – Oversees maintenance, infrastructure planning, resource allocation, and safety within department facilities.
  • Graduate Program Committee – Handles graduate admissions, curriculum improvements, and student performance monitoring.
  • Graduate Program Coordinator (GPC) – Oversees graduate student admissions, program development, and coordination with scholarship programs.
  • Instructional and Research Laboratories – Provides technical support and manages laboratory facilities for academic and research activities.
  • Library Resource Management Officer – Coordinates learning resource acquisition and availability, in consultation with faculty and the college library.
  • Metal Shop – Provides fabrication and machining services for academic and research projects involving metal materials.
  • Quality Assurance Committee – Assists in implementing quality assurance processes aligned with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Quality Assurance Officer – Leads quality assurance efforts to ensure program outcomes meet institutional and national benchmarks.
  • Research and Extension Committee – Coordinates faculty research, extension activities, and research dissemination efforts.
  • Sheet Metal and Foundry Shop – Supports casting, molding, and metal fabrication activities for instructional and research purposes.
  • Shop Supervisor – Oversees shop operations, staff management, and equipment maintenance to support academic and research activities.
  • Student Affairs Committee – Supports student welfare, organizes wellness programs, coordinates counseling, and manages student grievances.
  • Tenure Committee – Reviews and evaluates faculty tenure applications based on academic performance and university policies.
  • Undergraduate Program Committee – Oversees undergraduate admissions, curriculum updates, and student performance monitoring.
  • Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC) – Manages undergraduate admissions, academic advising, program orientation, and curriculum oversight.
  • Wood Shop – Provides woodworking and fabrication services for instructional and research applications.
