As the UP College of Engineering celebrates its 115th Founding Anniversary, the Department of Mechanical Engineering proudly joins the festivities with outstanding news: two of our very own faculty members have been recognized for their excellence in research and teaching.
The UP College of Engineering Faculty Awards honor educators whose passion and commitment advance the University’s mission of innovation, academic excellence, and public service. Among this year’s awardees are two DME faculty members:
Outstanding Junior Engineering Professor Award (Instructor Category)
Asst. Prof. John Carlo S. Garcia

Recognized for his dedication to high-quality instruction and leadership within the department, Dr. Garcia exemplifies what it means to teach with both heart and rigor.
Outstanding Junior Engineering Researcher Award (Assistant Professor Category)
Asst. Prof. Julius Rhoan T. Lustro

Honored for his significant contributions to research and innovation, Dr. Lustro continues to push the boundaries of mechanical engineering with curiosity and purpose.
These awards not only highlight individual excellence but also reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to academic leadership and nation-building.
“As we celebrate 115 years of engineering excellence, we take pride in the achievements of our faculty members who embody the spirit of service and innovation,” said the UP College of Engineering in their official statement.
