facilities

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of the Philippines Diliman is supported by facilities designed to enhance instruction, collaboration, and hands-on learning. We aim to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff—whether in the classroom, the shop floor, or administrative offices.

IE-ME Building

Shared with the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, the IE-ME Building houses some of our classrooms and laboratory spaces. It also houses the Department’s fabrication shops and instructional spaces for hands-on learning.

Melchor Hall

The main building of the College of Engineering, Melchor Hall is home to key lecture rooms, common academic facilities, and administrative offices. Many general engineering courses are held here, making it a central hub for students in the College.

Fluor Research and Collaboration Room

A dedicated workspace for senior undergraduate and graduate students, this room is designed to support capstone research and design, and research collaboration.

Computer Laboratory (ME3)

Equipped with engineering workstations, this teaching lab supports courses in computer-aided design and engineering, and computer programming. It is also available for academic use by students outside class hours.

Wood Shop

Used for instructional activities involving basic machining and woodworking, the Wood Shop supports prototyping coursework.

Metal Shop

A fully equipped facility for metalworking, used in hands-on learning and special projects that require welding, cutting, or shaping of metal components.

Sheet Metal and Foundry Shop

This shop supports instruction in casting, molding, and forming processes, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in traditional manufacturing.

ME Laboratories Building

The main building of the department, this facility houses most of the faculty offices and administrative units. While it primarily serves as the hub for departmental operations and academic advising, it is also home to our research laboratories.

Faculty Office

Located in the ME Laboratories Building, the Faculty Office provides a space for teaching and administrative staff, supporting both consultation hours and internal academic coordination.

The Department’s physical spaces are integral to how we teach, learn, and collaborate. Whether it’s in a shop, a classroom, or a faculty office, each facility is maintained with the goal of fostering an engaging and supportive academic environment for all members of the Department’s community.
