Undergraduate Program
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
(BSME)
The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program of the University of the Philippines Diliman provides a comprehensive education in the principles and practice of mechanical engineering. The program prepares students to analyze, design, develop, and improve mechanical and thermal systems while responding to the technological and societal challenges of a continually evolving profession.
Students develop a strong foundation in mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering fundamentals, complemented by specialized study in areas such as thermal and fluid systems, mechanics and materials, product engineering and manufacturing, and dynamics and control. The curriculum integrates classroom instruction with laboratory work, computational tools, industry exposure, research, and team-based design and capstone projects.
Beyond technical competence, the BSME program develops critical thinking, ethical and professional responsibility, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Graduates are prepared to contribute across industry, government, research, and academe, and to apply mechanical engineering knowledge in service of society and national development.
